HERBANO AND SUSTAINABILITY

Our contribution to greater sustainability

Our environment needs us - every day. That's why we do our best to protect the environment and its biodiversity. We are aware that we can have a positive impact on the environment by changing our packaging, recycling resources and so on - and we take this very seriously.

Sustainable design and rethinking of production processes and packaging are top priorities when it comes to keeping our ecological footprint as small as possible.

Step by step towards more sustainability

The path to greater sustainability is a gradual process. That is why we are working every day to become better at it and to find new, more sustainable options in all areas of the company.

Sustainability is a top priority for us and that is precisely why we want to make a contribution to this together with you.

Our sustainable amber glass flacons

You may have already noticed, but for some time now we have been switching most of our high-quality food supplements from a plastic jar to a glass jar. This offers several advantages:

Glass can be better recycled. Regardless of whether you dispose of the bottles in the amber glass garbage can and the cap in the metal garbage can or decide to simply reuse the bottles - switching to glass is good for the environment.

What other effects the new amber glass flacons have: They protect the sensitive, high-quality ingredients from environmental influences, especially light. They also prevent plasticizers and microplastics from getting into your capsules.

of our products switched to glass..

We want to be honest: The switch to glass is not possible for all products..

In addition to the many advantages of glass, it also has a disadvantage - it is heavier. This can lead to more emissions during delivery of the products, which is why we will carefully consider what really makes more sense for the environment and therefore for you when it comes to larger products.

Our cardboard boxes have also changed in recent months. Instead of product cartons in bright white, we have switched to unbleached and particularly sustainable brown cartons.

Our cardboard boxes are already all FSC-certified. This means that the virgin fibers for the corrugated cardboard come from controlled forests. These forests are managed according to strict ecological and social principles.

And that's not all! Energy efficiency with heat recovery is ensured during the production of the cartons.

The perfect filling material

In order to package our products in the best possible way, i.e. to protect them from breakage and to protect the environment, we switched all of our filling material from plastic to paper in 2020. As a result, we have already saved no less than 32.4 truckloads of plastic!

The advantage of paper filling material? Thanks to the renewable, resource-saving raw material paper, less plastic is released into the environment and therefore poses no danger to animals and plants. In addition, paper is much easier to recycle than plastic.

Did you know that our green packing silk is a true
pioneer in sustainability?

This is because the packing silk is made from renewable raw materials and is 100% recyclable. In addition, every purchase supports a campaign for women and the environment.

Waste reduction right from the start

Waste reduction right from the start

Since the beginning, we have dispensed with unnecessary package inserts for each individual product. We are aware that these usually end up in the bin, which is why we use the space on the labels instead and maintain our detailed product information on the website.

Sustainable production in Europe

We all agree that shipping makes a difference. And that's exactly why our products are manufactured in carefully selected companies in Europe, namely in Germany, Austria and France. By producing in Europe, we ensure manageable transportation routes from production to sale and, in addition, 100% green electricity is used to ship the parcels.

Our commitment to the environment

As a company, we also use everyone's resources and would therefore like to give something back, because there is no such thing as Planet B. So we decided on a project that is particularly close to our hearts and launched a small campaign ourselves in spring 2022, which we implemented with your help..

Reforestation

We want to plant trees together with you. A single tree does not change the world, but we want to contribute to a greener environment step by step or tree by tree. That's why we support the nature conservation organization NatureFund by planting 5 trees a month in Europe, helping to save CO₂ and protect the environment.

We are proud to present this certificate to you: Blue Planet Certificate

Our bee campaign in spring 2022

Our bee campaign in spring 2022

In spring 2022, we added a packet of bee pasture to all our parcels, giving you the opportunity to actively make a small contribution to preserving the bee population.

Why is this topic so important?

Our honey bees and wild bees are in need, as food supplies in gardens, meadows and fields are becoming increasingly scarce and habitats are slowly disappearing. A bee needs 4,000 flowers every day to survive. That's why we all need to plant important plants such as bee pastures to help preserve biodiversity.

Albert Einstein already knew: "If the bee dies, then four years later man dies too".
