Breast milk is the best food you can give your baby. Not only does it ensure the healthy development of intestinal flora and the immune system, it also benefits the bond between mother and child and general health. However, certain factors can quickly lead to the mother's body no longer producing sufficient quantities of milk. Stress, pressure or an incorrect latch-on technique can be responsible for this, among other things. This is where our fenugreek capsules for milk production come into play, as they naturally increase the production of breast milk. You can also optimize the effect of the capsules by using the Morton protocol to promote milk flow. This can increase milk production in a short time and harmonize the breastfeeding relationship again.
Fenugreek is a classic medicinal plant that is used, among other things, to support milk production in the best possible way. In addition, the fenugreek capsules not only contain fenugreek, but also other herbs that have a positive effect on milk flow and breastfeeding:
Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum) is a classic medicinal herb for promoting lactation, the effect of which is mainly due to the plant hormones it contains, known as phytoestrogens. They effectively activate the production of the body's own hormones, which in turn stimulate milk production. At the same time, the active ingredients also improve blood flow to the mammary glands and increase the quality of breast milk. Fenugreek can also help to lower cholesterol levels and blood sugar and effectively regulate digestion.
Fennel is primarily known for its stomach-soothing effect and its ability to effectively relieve flatulence. As this effect is passed on from mother to child, by consuming fennel the mother can easily help to reduce flatulence in her baby and thus provide relief.
At the same time, fennel also stimulates milk production and significantly increases milk production . A clinical study with 78 breastfeeding mothers showed that the most important signs of adequate nutrition - development, weight, head circumference, number of wet diapers and frequency of defecation - were met while the mothers were given a tea with fennel seeds 3 times a day for 4 weeks.
Due to its high content of essential oils such as limonene, phellandre and carvone, dill can support the health of mother and child in various ways. The traditional spice and medicinal plant has proven particularly effective in relieving digestive complaints and colic and stimulating the appetite. But dill can do even more. It helps to promote a good night's sleep and has been proven to reduce the risk of inflammation of the mammary glands.
The traditional Christmas spice aniseed (Pimpinella anisum) is mainly known for its digestive effect. Aniseed can successfully help with flatulence and nausea. However, the spice has also been shown to promote milk production in breastfeeding mothers. This effect has already been scientifically proven in studies with animals that were given an extract of aniseed during the lactation period.
➤ Did you know that aniseed cookies are a traditional gift for new mothers in the Netherlands to ensure an abundant flow of breast milk?
Both types of caraway are known in folk medicine to stimulate milk production in breastfeeding mothers. And their soothing, antispasmodic effect on flatulence and gastrointestinal cramps has also proven to be beneficial for mother and child. It is mainly the essential oils contained in caraway, which consist of flavonoids, terpene, limonene and carvone, that are responsible for the health benefits. As powerful antioxidants, flavonoids can help to improve the body's defenses, while carvone is effective against bacteria and fungi. The terpene limonene further enhances the immune-boosting and antibacterial effect.
As breastfeeding is a particularly sensitive phase in the life of mother and child, many factors can quickly lead to an imbalance that has a detrimental effect on milk production. In such a situation, mothers need good support and remedies that work. Fenugreek can be such a remedy.
However, as the causes of a lack of milk production can be varied and every woman reacts differently, the effect of fenugreek on promoting milk production also varies from person to person. The effect can therefore not be 100% guaranteed. In addition, the cause of the difficulties must of course be eliminated as far as possible. In principle, women should always seek expert advice from a midwife or a qualified breastfeeding consultant if problems persist during breastfeeding.
The so-called Morton protocol is based on the Morton study and can help to significantly increase milk production in many cases within 10 days.
It is carried out in 3 stages:
This first phase is based on the fact that frequent and effective breast emptying leads to more milk. You should therefore proceed as follows:
8-10 times a day for at least 10 to 15 minutes or the baby is applied.
There should be no more than 5-6 hours interval.
Breastfeed or pump once during the night.
In the Morton study, which was conducted over 8 weeks, the mothers were instructed to pump or latch on by hand 8 times a day for 15 minutes each as often as possible in the first 3 days after the birth. The mothers who pumped or latched on more than 5 times a day actually experienced increased milk production throughout the study. increased milk production.
For a better milk flow, it is more important to pay attention to how often you latch on or pump. Therefore, try to latch on or pump 8 times a day, even if the intervals are longer or shorter than indicated above.
In this phase, HOP - Hands-On Pumping is also used.
These are manual techniques (breast massage, stroking, expressing) that help to empty the breast completely during pumping/breastfeeding. The techniques are simple and can be used by any woman. In addition to emptying, the production of new milk is also stimulated.
Each pumping or breastfeeding should be carried out on both sides. At the same time, the breasts are squeezed and areas that feel firmer are massaged. This should be done until the milk flow has developed into a trickle. Then stop pumping or breastfeeding and massage the breasts, especially the firmer areas, for 1-2 minutes.
7x per day Pump out
As the herbs it contains can stimulate the uterus and trigger contractions, they should never be taken during pregnancy, but only after the birth!
If you are allergic to chickpeas or suffer from asthma do not take fenugreek.
